Be Still And Know

Psalms 46:10: Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

If we are to have a good relationship with Almighty God, do His will in the hustle, bustle and noise of this life and be the blessing He wants us to be to others we will need to have some time alone with Him who loves us more than anyone else can. Time alone with Him would be time spent reading what he has written for you, the Bible, it would include thinking about Him and His words (meditating), it would include prayer and it would include hearing and heeding His voice. It would be a shame if we never made time to get into His presence and be still before Him.

Mark 6:30: And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught. 31 And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat. 32 And they departed into a desert place by ship privately.

John 10:27: My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

Exodus 14:13: And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.

Numbers 9:8: And Moses said unto them, Stand still, and I will hear what the LORD will command concerning you.

Joshua 3:8: And thou shalt command the priests that bear the ark of the covenant, saying, When ye are come to the brink of the water of Jordan, ye shall stand still in Jordan.

Ruth 3:18: Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.

1 Samuel 9:27: And as they were going down to the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, Bid the servant pass on before us, (and he passed on,) but stand thou still a while, that I may shew thee the word of God.

1 Samuel 12:7: Now therefore stand still, that I may reason with you before the LORD of all the righteous acts of the LORD, which he did to you and to your fathers.

1 Kings 19:12: And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

Psalms 4:4: Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

It is important to know that we cannot get alone with Him when there is unconfessed, unforsaken and unforgiven sin between us and Him.

Isaiah 59:2: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

Psalms 66:18: If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:

Proverbs 28:13: He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

1 John 1:9: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Psalms 37:4: Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

He can make our hearts desire what is good AND give it to us.
